OPENING NIGHT
Saturday, March 18, features RASHEVSKI’S TANGO. Set in Belgium, this film is a heartwarming ensemble comedy-drama in which family members wrestle with issues of Jewish identity, love, interfaith marriage and secrets. Sam Garbarski’s directorial debut delivers laughs, tears and a serving of romance. Also showing is a hysterical short called NOSE JOB JEW. A dessert reception is included with the price of admission. Adult content. No one under 16 will be admitted.
SUNDAY MATINEE
March 19 is an afternoon of short features. MOVING HEAVEN AND EARTH is an unforgettable documentary about the Abayudaya Jews in Uganda, whose commitment to Judaism amidst poverty and persecution is truly inspirational. Also showing is MY DAD IS THE STRONGEST, an endearing Israeli film of a young boy and his imaginary super hero friends, followed by BLACK HATS AND SHORT SKIRTS and KOSHER, both which take a light look at Jews dating non-Jews. Recommended for adults and students over 12. Some nudity.
Tickets are $10 for Saturday night, $6 for Sunday matinee, or $15 for a weekend pass. Tickets may be purchased at the JCC front desk or by phone at (704) 366-5007. Remaining tickets will be available at the door for $12 on Saturday and $8 on Sunday.
